Master late stage tournament strategy with proven tactics. Tournament strategy from experienced MTT grinders.
## Late Stage and Bubble Strategy The late stage of a tournament is the most strategically complex phase, spanning from the approach to the money bubble through the final few tables. ICM pressure dominates decision-making, and the value of your tournament life increases dramatically. On the bubble (just before the money), medium stacks face the most pressure because busting means getting nothing. Short stacks have less to lose. Big stacks can exploit this by raising aggressively, knowing that medium stacks cannot call without risking their tournament life for a min-cash. After the bubble bursts and everyone is in the money, there is typically a period of aggressive play as short stacks push their remaining chips in. Then the pace settles as players adjust to the pay jumps at the final two tables. ## Tournament Rakeback Reminder Tournament buy-in fees count toward your rakeback tier at most rooms. When evaluating tournaments, factor in the effective discount from your rakeback percentage. A $10+$1 tournament at 40% rakeback effectively costs $10.60 after rakeback — a meaningful savings over thousands of entries.
